Recent STBP News

(June 28, 2019) We are pleased to announce the promotion of two STBP employee-partners: Lee R. Caro is now Carpenter Foreman and Johnny Castillo is now Superintendent. Having both started as a carpenter with our firm, they continue a long tradition of learning and growing every day, honing skills, gaining confidence, and taking on a larger role. Lee’s new responsibilities include managing our self-perform carpentry crews and supervising some of our smaller remodel and finish-out projects. Johnny’s first project as Superintendent is a full time focus on the sanctuary remodel at First United Methodist Church Corpus Christi. These guys are truly amazing, please help us congratulate them for their achievements!

(June 10, 2019) We are pleased to announce that Robert Morris and Lindsey Lomax are now VP – Projects and VP – Facility Maintenance, respectively. They have been and remain dedicated to their parts of the business, and will continue to operate with the spirit of inclusive teamwork for the good of STBP. Robert has been with the firm for almost five years and Lindsey nearly three years. We are blessed with good Leadership at STBP and we want to share our amazing employee-partners’ skills with you and your business! (April 25, 2019) Big changes are coming soon to the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church on Shoreline Blvd in Corpus Christi. With soaring ceilings and seating for over 1,000, this 1950’s beauty is an impressive site to see. STBP previously completed an intensive nursery remodel for this congregation, and we have been entrusted with this next project. We are thankful for the relationship, the work, and the opportunity to help FUMC achieve its mission.

(March 19, 2019) Robert Lewis has joined our team, and we are sure thankful to have him! At a time when we have multiple projects starting up and more heading down the pipeline it sure helps to have his early 20’s energy and enthusiasm, as well as his eagerness to learn and grow. Robert is a student at TAMU-CC and sings in the choir every Sunday at Church of the Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi. (March 11, 2019) Noe Galvan has joined STBP as a Lead Carpenter and we are excited to have him as part of our team. Noe comes to us with a lot of good experience in the Corpus Christi market and the knowledge of how to safely deliver high quality work by leading others toward a common goal. We are excited to see him learn and grow in our people-focused environment.  Welcome to the team Noe!

(February 18, 2019) STBP has hired Nicholas Kelley as Facility Maintenance Tech, and we can’t wait for facility owners and users to get to know him! Nicholas has been with us through a temp agency for several months now, and has already done great things for our team and for our facility maintenance client partners. Nicholas has a great attitude, work ethic, and multi-talented skillset that will add value from day one at your facility. (October 31, 2018) STBP welcomes Jose Barron Zamarripa back to our team as a Carpenter. Jose had worked with us in Bishop, Texas last year for the BASF Icebreaker project and we are glad to have him back for the BASF Bright Star project that is about to kick off. We have a great deal of respect for Jose not only for his deep skill set and his personality, but especially for his strong commitment to safe work in a challenging environment.

(October 22, 2018) Clay Armstrong has joined STBP as a Project Manager – please help us welcome him! Clay will be a great addition not only to STBP but also to Corpus Christi, as he and his wife move in from Houston TX by way of Williamsport PA. Clay is a 2012 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station and has since worked with a nationwide oil & gas pipeline firm. We are excited to see Clay hone his skills, grow with STBP, and help lead us into the future.

(September 18, 2018) STBP is happy to announce that our Carpenter Foreman Sonny Bargas has been promoted to Superintendent. Sonny has demonstrated an ability to make the complex seem easy on projects of all shapes and sizes. His well-developed skillset is second only to his great personality. Congrats to Sonny, and keep up the good work!

(August 21,2018) We have been awarded the office remodel for AG|CM, a Corpus Christi-based construction management and estimating firm. AG|CM is well known for its ability to deliver value for its customers both on projects and for more broad program management. Although not a huge project in terms of square footage or contract amount, it is huge in importance for our new client partner, as they have outgrown their space and have a short timeline to meet. STBP is proud of all our work and all our client partner relationships, and we feel especially good about the times we get to test our skills by working other professional construction firms. (June 27, 2018) Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation is moving and STBP is proud to have been chosen to construct their new facility. The new site on Holly will take shape over the next nine months with about 25,000 sf of building on about 2.5 acres of land. CBWF, formerly the Coastal Bend AIDS Foundation, has been serving the community since 1986 and takes pride in serving the community to make the Coastal Bend a better place. (June 6, 2018) Riviera Telephone Company has contracted RDS Engineering, Fresch Architects, and South Texas Building Partners to design and build their new office in downtown Riviera, Texas. RTC has been serving its customers since 1937 and is now in the fourth generation of ownership by the Colston Family. RTC provides telephone and broadband service in a three county area in South Texas. RTC and the Colstons are legendary supporters of the South Texas community, giving freely of their time, talent, and treasure to improve the lives of others. STBP is proud to support RTC and help them achieve their mission.

(February 12, 2018) We are excited to announce the addition of John Riojas to our STBP Team and Family. John has been working with STBP for several months through a temp agency, and we are thrilled to finally add him as an employee-partner. John has an amazing attitude and energy that he applies to every task he is assigned. John will be joining our construction team, and  has already added value to various current projects. We can’t wait to see how John’s construction skills continue to grow, and the other great things we know he will bring to our team.

(October 10, 2017) Sonny Bargas has been hired as a Carpenter Foreman for our BASF Icebreaker project in Bishop, Texas. This multi-story industrial new construction is a challenging project and demands the highest levels of safety, quality, and professionalism. Fortunately this comes naturally to Sonny! (April 17, 2017) Jamie Clark has been hired as a Carpenter Helper and we are excited to have him join our STBP team. Jamie worked with us through a temp agency for a while, and we know he will continue to do great things for us and for our client partners. Please help us welcome Jamie!

(March 13, 2017) Erica Escatiola has joined South Texas Building Partners as a Project Manager Assistant and we are sure glad to have her in the office to support our fast growing team. Erica has a diverse skillset from a varied background, including most recently Workers’ Compensation billing at Radiology and Imaging. (February 20, 2017) Kimberly Garcia has joined STBP as Superintendent/Project Manager. Kim is a Corpus Christi native, Coast Guard veteran, graduate of Texas A&M University – Kingsville. Recently living in Maryland, she is happy to be back home. She will be joining our team working in Bishop TX on a new light industrial project for BASF, in association with CCC Group and Worley Parsons. Kimberly’s experience in the construction business includes field leadership positions with both Kiewit Offshore Services and Kiewit Energy Company. We are excited to have Kimberly and we look forward to our continued growth together.

(January 27, 2017) South Texas Building Partners announces the promotion of employee-partners Johnny Castillo and Glenn Flores. Johnny has been with our team since June 2016 and has quickly demonstrated that he has the skills and character to perform at a higher level.  Johnny will serve in the role of Foreman going forward. Glenn joined STBP in May 2013 and rose from carpenter to foreman to Superintendent, now continuing to learn and grow every day as he handles supervision of projects in the $1M range. Please help us congratulate these employee partners on their growth.

(January 24, 2017) Since its founding in 1991 and establishment in Corpus Christi in 2005, Mission of Mercy has been leading the way as a health care hero for communities including right here in the Coastal Bend area of South Texas. STBP is honored to have been chosen to construct the new Mission of Mercy Medical Center in Corpus Christi – a 15,000sf two-story, state of the art clinic to help the non-profit organization serve more patients and offer more services. STBP’s focus on achieving client-partner goals means this will be more than just a building, it will be a game changer for Mission of Mercy and a symbol of working together to develop buildings, people, and communities.

(December 27, 2016) We added an old friend to our in-house carpentry crew today – Lee Caro is back as STBP’s newest Carpenter.  Lee has all the skills required of a rough carpenter and a great personality to boot. We are excited to have Lee on board and hope you get the chance to work with him soon…our client-partners love him!

(December 20, 2016) Today marks the five year anniversary of STBP becoming STBP, Inc. upon filing as a Texas Corporation.  “Five years seems like a short time now, but looking back at the 180+ projects and $25M+ in work we have successfully contracted we can really get a feel for how many we have helped in this short time,” said founder and president Matt Ezell.  As we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, we are proud to also share a ‘Happy Anniversary STBP’ with all those that have helped us grow.  “If we will continue to focus on the success of our client-partners and continue making employee-partners the heart of our organization, then we will be looking back on 55 years before we know it,” he added.  South Texas Building Partners is a facility solutions company headquartered in Corpus Christi engaged in general contracting, design-build, and facility maintenance across South Texas.

(October 23, 2016) STBP is proud to announce the addition of Brandon Fleming to our team. Brandon is a Corpus Christi native and has honed his professional skills in several industries including accounting, roofing, and building $1B offshore drilling platforms.  We are glad to have him on board as our newest Superintendent/Project Manager, starting off with a big project in Port Aransas.  Please help us welcome Brandon to the team.

(August 9, 2016) STBP welcomes the newest addition to our team of professionals.  Lindsey Dutton Lomax grew up in San Antonio, graduated from Alamo Heights High School and then Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a BBA and focus on entrepreneurship and leadership.  Lindsey’s varied workforce experience includes regional manager roles in retail, operations, projects, consulting, and sales.  Lindsey’s focus as employee-partner with STBP will be project management and directing/growing our facility maintenance business, and we know she will do great things.  Please Contact Us and tell us how we can help you achieve your facility goals.

(June 28, 2016) Del Mar College has again entrusted STBP with a small bonded project, the Del Mar College Public Safety Fire Damage Repairs on the college’s west campus. Del Mar College and WKMC Architects will again work with Superintendent/Project Manager Keith Webster.  At South Texas Building Partners we perform about 60-65% of our work for repeat clients, and we believe this is an indication of our ability to grow while never losing focus on what is important – the goals of our client-partners.

(February 5, 2016) STBP is partnering with La Palmera Mall to complete the demo and whitebox landlord work for the new H&M department store in Corpus Christi. “At just over $1M and 26,000sf with a short schedule, this will be a challenging project and right up our alley,” said Founder and President Matt Ezell. “We have strong supervision and project management that enjoys rising to a challenge and showing a new client-partner what we can do.” The construction contract with the mall’s parent company Trademark Properties represents the 140th contract in just 3.5 years for STBP.

(December 30, 2015) What a year for team STBP – many challenges but also many successes to celebrate! We contracted 50 new projects this year, a record high, including 31 for repeat client-partners. We were introduced to many new client-partners ranging from Cheniere Energy to small local firms just needing a hand with small facility maintenance – we are proud to be able to help others achieve their commercial and light industrial building goals regardless of size. (September 16, 2015) STBP today secured its first contract with Del Mar College, the 80 year old community college serving more than 10,000 students in Corpus Christi and a surrounding four county area. The West Campus Pilot Plant project will give Process and Information Technology students hands-on experience with an operational distillation tower, control panel, and associated facilities just like they will encounter working in our booming petrochemical and refining industry. This project is an important one not only for Del Mar College, but also for the entire Coastal Bend. We are just glad to be a part of something great. (July 21, 2015) STBP is excited to announce that our employee-partner Ilene Trevino-Hebert has completed her Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Western Governors University. Ilene has been working diligently on this for years and we are proud that we could help through financial assistance and flexible schedules over the past couple years since she joined our team. Ilene manages our office and our accounting department and this is a real plus for both she and STBP! We are a small company with big dreams and we know it is our people that will take us there. (December 16, 2014) STBP welcomes our tenth employee-partner, Robert Morris, to our growing team of professionals. Robert is a Corpus Christi native, graduating from Carroll High School and then from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.  Robert’s professional background includes everything from marketing to administration to estimating and project management.  His extensive and diverse experience in commercial construction will help us in our focus on achieving our client’s building goals through the partnering approach. (July 6, 2014) South Texas Building Partners celebrated two years in business on July 5, looking back at two great years and looking forward to many more.  With 61 projects contracted to date, we are proud that we have completed all this work with no safety or compliance incidents, 100% client satisfaction, and a great group of employee-partners.  We will make our third year the best yet by continuing to focus on our client-partners’ goals and successes, pursuing our mission, and being very intentional about its three tenets: service, passion, and leadership.

(April 24, 2014) South Texas Building Partners is proud to announce it has been awarded the newest addition to the London ISD campus, phase three of its secondary school.  STBP will handle project management duties for the awarded general contractor Sterling Structures, of Houston.  Our longstanding relationship with London ISD and the expertise, size, and reputation of Sterling Structures should make for a great team on the $7.8+ million improvements.  London ISD is a small and fast growing school district of about 800 K-12 students just outside Corpus Christi city limits.

(December 19, 2013) As we draw near to the end of 2013 we reflect on a great year for STBP.  We secured 29 contracts this year, bringing our total to 40 contracts since starting operations nearly 18 months ago .  We are proud that 14 of those contracts were for repeat customers.  We currently have seven employee-partners and have worked hard to make them “the heart of our organization.”  We joined more organizations to increase our involvement in the local community and have given back about 1% of our sales to charity including matching our employee-partners giving.  We have thankfully had zero safety/compliance incidents to date.  Thank you to all that make this dream a reality every day.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your South Texas Building Partner.

(August 6, 2013) South Texas Building Partners welcomes Keith D. Webster of Corpus Christi to the team.  Keith has practiced his construction skills by running his own contracting business and by working for a large general contractor in Corpus Christi for more than six years.  Keith’s special skill set includes jobsite supervision and project management for small and large commercial projects as well as extensive experience in high end residential and ranch lodge construction.  Please help us welcome Keith as Employee-Partner with STBP.
